27.11.2023 Opening of the Photo Archive of Industrial Culture online at ETH

On 27 November 2023, a vernissage was held at the ETH in Zurich to celebrate the fact that the entire photo archive of industrial culture with around 250,000 images is now available online! The new publication “Eisenbahnbilder – Eisenbahnbild” was also presented.
In his captivating speech, Prof. Dr Ulrich Weidmann, Vice President for Infrastructure and Professor of Transport Systems, took us on a journey through the last 50 years of railway history and policy, which Hanspeter Bärtschi captured with his now accessible photos. He was able to show how Hanspeter Bärtschi’s heart was attached to the declining railway romance, while his mind was open to renewal.
